Pair of elegant and uncommonly designed French Art Deco side chairs, beautifully detailed with tall seat backs, channeled, conical and barrel-shaped padded frames, rounded aprons and saber legs. Stained Cuban mahogany. Boxy padded seats with piping. Covered with suede. 1920's/30's. France. 20"/40 1/2" h, 18" w, 22 1/3" d Reference: comparable tall back chairs have been designed only by a handful of Art Deco designers i.e. Andre Arbus (P. Kjellberg "Art Deco", page 31) or Eliel Saarinen (Klein/McClelland/Haslam, page 171).
