Exemplary Austrian kneehole desk, before 1825. Matching veneered with walnut on pine on all sides (for freestanding). Front with one large drawer (looks like 3 separate drawers) on top and 2 smaller drawers on either side. Raised on blockfeet. Roll top, pull-out writing surface, fitted interior in maple and bird's-eye-maple, parcel ebonized, 3 drawers on either side of 5 niches, secret compartments. Original locks. 42 11 h, 52 1/2 " w, 27 1/4" d (closed). 33 1/2" d (open).
