A set of 7 magnificently penwork decorated important chairs (4 of them with arms) by Sebestyen Vogel, Pest (Hungary), circa 1810/20. Shoulder boards resting on griffin heads and umbrella pole. Umbrella motifs, fans, rosettes, leaves, fillets and palmettes of exceptional quality including the frontrail. Mahogany veneered on oak. French repolished, touched-up, reupholstered from frame up with webbing, coilspring and horsehair cover. Set could be broken-up. 18/36" h, 26 1/4" w, 22 1/2" d (armchairs) 18/35 1/2" h, 19" w, 18" d (sidechairs).
