A uniquely designed and uniquely penwork decorated Biedermeier sofa/daybed. Inscrolled and outscrolled sides. Veneered with French walnut in beautiful colors and grain on pinewood. Inlaid with "horns of plenty" in burnt maple. Raised on 4 scrolled feet. All original condition. Reupholstered. Circa 1830/35. Danube monarchy (most likely Vienna). 22 1/2"/38 1/4" h, 90" w, 29" d Each horn of plenty filled with fruits, branches and leaves in penworks of incredible quality which makes this sofa a masterpiece of applied arts.
