Cubically designed Russian Biedermeier chest of drawers veneered with one of the most outstanding and exciting woods - Karelian birch on pine. Ebonized trim. Edges and hairlines inlaid with ebony. Blockfeet. Retaining it's original pierced bronze ormolu keyplates and it's original locks. Circa 1815/20. Russia (Baltic). 33" h, 40 1/2" w, 22 1/2" d Russian Karelian birch veneers with it's speciffic grain configuration are extremely rare and show similarities only with Carpathian elm and bird's-eye maple.
