Unusual German Biedermeier desk (cubical chest topped with a lectern). Walnut on pine. Standing veneers perfectly matching and forming draperies. Escutcheons inlaid with maple. Fitted interior with drawers and niches. Unique lock with a secret opening/closing mechanism. All locks, keys and hinges original. Circa 1825. South Germany (region of Mainz?)
