A plainly elegant and well proportioned German Biedermeier side table raised on saber legs. Veneered with golden colored birch-tree and flame birch on pine. Inlaid with a hairline in mahogany bordering the table top. Large drawer retaining it's original boxlock. North Germany, first half of 19th Century. 30 3/4" h, 36 1/2" w, 28" d. "The Invention Of Simplicity" is the title of the recent BIEDERMEIER exhibition in Milwaukee (see catalog).
